TEACHER HOUSING

The Chicago Public Schools Teacher Housing Resource Center (THRC) is a one-stop shop for teachers' housing needs! This center has been created to serve new teachers, student teachers, and established CPS teachers. The center offers specific programs that will help teachers locate housing in a supportive community.

The Teacher Housing Resource Center (THRC) features a number of "Premier Partners" — property managers, developers, lenders and non-profit organizations — who have committed to offer incentives and discounts to CPS teachers above and beyond any offers to the general public. Wherever you are on your career track with CPS — student teacher, new teacher, or well-established teacher — we encourage you to take advantage of and enjoy the program offerings of our Premier Partners!

For more information about the Teacher Housing Resource Center, visit the CPS Teacher Housing website .

TELACU EDUCATION FOUNDATION

The TELACU Education Foundation was established in 1983 to address the crisis-level dropout rates of Latino college students. Early on, TELACU discovered that while financial assistance is vital to achieving academic success, impacting other key factors is equally or more important. Students who are first in their families ever to attend college lack the preparation and support system they need to realize their dream of a college degree. Socioeconomic factors of family responsibility, cultural identity, and financial stress create seemingly insurmountable challenges to academic life.

The Foundation accepted this challenge head on, combining important financial assistance with highly effective programs that ensure academic success. Each year, we provide scholarships to 600 Latino college students in California, Illinois, Texas and New York. And in order to inspire and equip individuals to pursue higher education, we annually provide academic programs and guidance to 2,000 elementary, middle and high school students, nursing students, and veterans.

The success of the Foundation is best summarized by the numbers: our Scholar retention and college graduation rates are an unprecedented 100%. Additionally, in a community where only 39% of high school students graduate, 100% of our TELACU high school students not only complete high school but also go on to pursue post-secondary education.
